Automation projects

A whole-plant automation system can certainly be specified and built into a new plant, but a retrofit on any plant is possible.  Most existing operations that choose to automate their plants discover the automation package can be installed with little or no modification to the existing equipment.

The automation at East Quarry has worked very well.  We have seen an increase of 75-100 TPH and also were able to reduce manpower operating the plant after the automation was complete.  Our plant stretches out over 1 mile.  Before the automation, we had 1 plant operator in the pit at the primary and 1 plant operator that controlled the secondary plant.  Now that the automation is installed, we have only 1 plant operator in the control tower at the primary in the pit and he controls the rest of the plant which is 1 mile from where he is located.  This wasn’t possible until we installed the automation from Etheridge.  The automation reduced our downtime due to overloads on conveyors because we can run our plant in auto which allows the automation to speed up and slow down the plant as needed.  Etheridge was very easy to work with when they started installing the automation on the plant.  They work around our production to get the program installed……Great group of people to work with and was a very good investment to our plant.

Jason Madewell, APAC-Central, Inc.

The automation system was supposed to increase our production by 10% but it increased by 25%.  Our production goal was 350 TPH and we have increased it to 450 TPH.  The system can monitor the plant far better than any person can. It was the best investment that we have ever added to the plant.  I have been asked if I would go back to running the plant without it….I absolutely would not.  The downtime on installing the system did not interfere with out production at all.  Etheridge is very knowledgeable about our needs and very good to work with.  A very profitable investment.  I would highly recommend it.
